A few words about the company...ACA was formed in 1982 by its President, John P. Kennedy, because he perceived a need for candid, innovative and pragmatic consulting services to airport management. During its sixteen year history, ACA has provided both long term and short term professional consulting services with significant results to more than thirty-five airports nationwide. ACAs niche in airport consulting services includes financial planning, lease analysis, drafting and negotiation, strategic planning, public/private partnerships in airport management, and airport management systems development. ACAs efforts on behalf of its client airports are under the direction of Mr. John P. Kennedy, ACAs President. Mr. Kennedys experience and understanding of airport, airline and general aviation financial, operational and management concerns, and positions, provides ACA clients with all of the unique qualities necessary to meet todays airport challenges. Mr. Kennedy is directly responsible for the successful completion of all airport consulting projects undertaken by ACA. Prior to founding ACA, Mr. Kennedy served as Vice President of Pan Am World Services and operated and developed Westchester County Airport, Teterboro Airport and the Heliport at East 60th Street in Manhattan. Mr. Kennedy began his career with eight years of service to the Air Transport Association of America in four positions involving airline operations, federal budget analysis, federal legislation and regulatory matters and the FAAP and ADAP programs. He was the first employee of ATAs Airports Department and was an active participant in ATAs annual Airport Survey which addressed industry needs at airports throughout the Country. Mr. Kennedy left ATA to join Eastern Airlines where, for over five years, he was System Director, Facilities Planning, in Easterns Properties and Facilities Department. There, he directed a staff of 27 architects, civil and industrial engineers, operations research and air traffic operations specialists, and was responsible for the development of plans and implementation programs to meet Easterns short and long-range operating requirements at 94 airports in the United States. Since founding ACA, Mr. Kennedy has consulted over thirty-five airports in all matters of airport management, finance, leasing and rates and charges. ACA is a compact, multi-faceted firm with the capability to respond to the immediate needs of our clients both quickly and decisively. ACA and its staff of four personnel are based in Springfield, NJ, approximately a 20 minute drive from Newark International Airport. All airport consulting services provided for ACA clients are typically performed within this office. Travel to the clients location is conducted on an as needed basis, subject to the clients prior approval. Travel typically occurs for the purpose of conducting background research and holding meetings when it is not effective to do so over the telephone. ACA offices are equipped with state of the art computing equipment permitting electronic communications with the client dependent upon its equipment availability. John P. Kennedy, President John Kennedy founded Airport Corporation of America in
1982 because he perceived a need for candid, innovative and pragmatic consulting services
to airport management. Mr. Kennedy is a recognized leader in aviation management and
consulting with thirty years of experience in the airport, airline and general aviation
industries. He is directly responsible for the successful completion of all consulting
assignments undertaken by ACA and has consulted over 35 airports in all matters of
finance, management, lease negotiations and rates and charges.
Formerly Vice President of the General Aviation Services Division of Pan Am World Services, Mr. Kennedy was responsible for the general management and development of the Division and its three operating facilities, including Teterboro Airport, New Jersey, the Metroport at East 60th Street in Manhattan and Westchester County Airport, New York. He was responsible for the negotiation of all leases and permits, preparation of all financing and development proposals, real estate and financing transactions, negotiations with federal and state governments, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the County of Westchester as well as business development, pricing, personnel management, public and community relations efforts related to those three facilities. During his tenure from 1973 through 1982, all three facilities progressed from losing operations to substantially profitable ones. Relations with tenants were also substantially improved. He was also a management consultant to the City of Cincinnati for Lunken Airport, the City's general aviation reliever facility and to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania for its general aviation reliever airport in Pittsburgh. The objective of this consulting was to provide a financially and operationally efficient program which would make the airports profitable for the City and County and well run for the tenants. He also consulted the State of New York Department of Transportation and operated Adirondack and Lake Placid Airports during the Winter Olympics in January and February of 1980. Prior to heading Pan Am World Services, Mr. Kennedy was System Director, Facilities Planning, for Eastern Air Lines Properties and Facilities Department from 1968 to 1973. There, he directed a staff of 27 architects, civil and industrial engineers, operations research and air traffic operations specialists, and was responsible for the development of plans and implementation programs to meet the airline's short and long-range operating requirements at 94 airports in the United States. This responsibility specifically included the Master Planning, airfield planning and terminal development of Atlanta, LaGuardia, Charlotte, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, San Juan, Mexico City, Acapulco, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington National, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, Orlando and Sarasota Airports. During the period 1968 to 1973 Mr. Kennedy was also a Consultant to the Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Science and Technology in the U.S. Department of Transportation. From l960 to 1968, Mr. Kennedy was employed by the Air Transport Association of America in four positions involving airports, airline operations, Federal Budget analysis, legislation and lobbying. Mr. Kennedy has also served as Vice President of Operations for Aero Services International, a publicly held Fixed Base Operator with twenty locations throughout the United States. EDUCATION Mr. Kennedy received a B.S. in Aeronautics and Business Administration (cum laude) from St. Louis University in 1956; a Doctor of Laws degree from Georgetown University in 1959. He has done graduate work in Systems Planning at American University. He has taken courses at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City and in Facilities Management with the American Management Association. In 1994, he completed coursework at the New York University Real Estate Institute, acquiring the educational requirements for a New York State Certified Commercial Real Estate Appraiser. AFFILIATIONS Mr. Kennedy is a member of AAAE and has served on its Legal and Academic Committees. He also has served on the Economics and Small Airports Committees of ACI-NA and is an ACI Associate. He is a qualified commercial pilot in single and multi-engine aircraft. He has also served on the Associate Board of Directors, United Jersey Bank Corporation; Board of Directors, Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum of New Jersey; and was Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Board of Directors of the National Business Aircraft Association and a member of the NBAA Board of Directors. Mr. Kennedy has also conducted seminars on airport management to several organizations including AAAE, CAAE, ACI-NA, the University of California, St. Louis University and the National Airports Conference.
